Reading

Read 15 minutes each day. Read your own books or ones on the sites that I suggested last week.

Tip: Try to choose 'good-fit' books so you do not get frustrated. That means, it is important to read books that are not too difficult or too easy. Remember, if you don't know five or more books on any one page, then the book is too hard.

Extra fun: If you go for a drive or a walk check out all of the 'signs' along the way.

Parents: In your child’s 'reading log' there is a list of good questions to ask your child about the books he/she reads. I will also include a link on the web link page that you can use.

Word Work- Continue working on your sight words. Here are a few links to some short activities you can try.

Spelling- I will email you our words for this week.

Print each word on your paper in creative ways…

-with a pencil, a crayon, a pen, a marker

-print them in different sizes

-if possible use a computer, i-pad or other device to text each word

Have fun!!

Remember to complete one whole word at a time. Printing one letter repeatedly does not help you to learn to spell the whole word.

Fun With Vowels- Check out the web links on short vowels.

Feel free to explore other short vowel exercises on the ixl.com link.

Writing-Continue doing some writing each day. Refer to your email for some suggested ‘leads’ and ‘endings’ for your stories. Some ideas to write about: My Pet, My Family, A Funny Time and Spring!!
